Hohe Flüchtlingszahlen im Irak

Pax Christi International trägt das Problem vor den UN-Menschenrechtsausschuss

Pax Christi International hat zusammen mit anderen christlichen Organisationen ihre vor Wochen eingereichte schriftliche Eingabe am 22.März 20007 vor dem derzeit in Genf tagenden UN-Menschenrechtsausschuss erläutert. In einer PCI-Presseerklärung vom 23.3.2007 heißt es, dass derzeit schätzungsweise jeden Monat etwa 100.000 Iraker ihr Land verlassen und dass seit der US-geführten Invasion von 2003 ungefährt 2 Mio Iraker ins Ausland geflüchtet sind. Hinzu kämen 1,8 interne Flüchtlinge im Irak selbst.

The Situation of Iraqi Refugees and Displaced Persons

Brussels – 23 March 2007- The oral statement on the situation of Iraqi refuges and displaced persons was delivered on 22 March 2007, at the session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, in Geneva. An estimated 100,000 Iraqis leave their country each month, including many of Iraq’s best-educated professionals. Approximately 2,000,000 Iraqis have fled since the 2003 invasion and about 1,800,000 Iraqis are internally displaced. The statement was given by Dominicans for Justice and Peace, Pax Christi International and 4 more partner organizations.
